Sincerëly Ghana Limited, a feminine health and hygiene non-governmental organisation, has donated sanitary pads to underprivileged young women in Dzita, a fishing community in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, to end “period poverty”.
Throughout Africa, one of the main reasons girls skip school is because of the lack of readily available and affordable hygienic feminine products during their menstruation, also known as “period”.
The donation of the sanitary pads would, therefore, help in reducing the struggles the girls went through to secure the hygienic feminine products, thus ending “period Poverty.”
The occasion was also used to launch a campaign, dubbed, “sister-2-Sister,” aimed at assisting young girls and women to handle challenges with menstruation and also to celebrate the “Women’s Month”.

The Anlo Traditional Council (ATC) says it is staying off the ongoing funeral ceremonies lined up for the departed former Ghanaian Head of State, Flt-Lt Jerry John Rawlings.
According to the Council, it has resolved to have nothing to do with the funeral ceremony of their son, because their members were not invited.
The traditional council has, however, stated an intention to observe its own funeral ceremonies at a date to be announced soon.
The Avadada (Warlord) of the Anlo State, Togbi Agbesi Awusu II, stated the position of the council during a telephone interview with The Chronicle yesterday.

Some youths of Anlo in the Keta Municipality of the Volta region have rejected the decision to bury the former President Jerry John Rawlings at the military cemetery in Accra.
The youths in an interaction with
ModernGhana News indicated that, former President Rawlings must be buried in Keta where he was born and raised by his late mother Elizabeth Agbotui.
Some also suggested his mortal remains should be brought home for some rituals performance and sent back to Accra for the final funeral rights.
Youths from Abor, Anyako, Anyako, Gbetuinu, Hortagba among others further disclosed that Rawlings was made king in Anlo and all necessary traditional rituals pertaining to his burial should be done in his homeland and must be buried there as well.

The Sunday dawn attack, on the filling station at Satsimadza near Agbozume in the Ketu South Municipality left the security man on duty with gunshot wounds, while making away with a sum of GH¢7000.00 and a pump action gun.
This is the second time the MP for Keta suffered attack from armed robbers within a month.
