Three Landing Beaches Awarded For Coronavirus Adherence

  The USAID Sustainable Fishing Management Programme (SFMP) COVID-19 Project has awarded three fish landing beaches in coastal Volta for adhering to the COVID-19 safety protocols. Aklorbordzi (Anloga District), Adzido (Keta Municipality) and Hedzranawo (Ketu South Municipality) received awards as most demonstrative fish landing beaches out of 48 in all three districts as winners for the month of November, 2020. Each Landing Beach Committee (LBC) received 10 plastic chairs, a plaque/citation, three project-branded tee-shirts and some reading materials on sustainable fishing. Mr Kwesi Randolph Johnson, the Project Officer, Volta Region, at a brief ceremony to present the awards, congratulated the LBCs for the achievement and called on them to strive to successfully combat COVID-19.

Court remands trio for alleged robbery of Keta MP-elect The suspects are Fred Ebiye alias Alfred Ebiye, Evans Kanu alias Kamanta Uchenna Nathaniel and Vincent Kwataikor. Their pleas have not been taken but are billed to reappear on January 4, 2021. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Stephen Atidzon, did not read the facts to the Court presided over by Mr Felix Datsomor, but the Ghana News Agency was hinted that about 10 masked armed men attacked the newly elected MP, his parents, a younger brother and their house-help at their home at Anlo-Afiadenyigba in the Keta Municipality in the early hours of December 11, 2020, inflicting wounds on them and making away with their money.

Keta MP-elect allegedly attacked by suspected armed robbers

+ The MP-elect for Keta, Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey was allegedly attacked at his home at Anlo-Afiadenyigba by some persons suspected to be armed robbers. The suspected robbers beat him and his family to pulp and made away with money and other valuables. The robbers are said to have held their victims at gunpoint while they ransacked every room in the house to see what they can find. They made away with about ¢50,000 from the MP-elect, his brother and other people in the house. They also took their phones and laptops. The incoming legislator was said to have ran through his backdoor to the police station in the town, but the station was locked when he arrived there at about 1:30 am on Friday.

Keta MP-elect and family hospitalised following an attack on them Mr Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, the Member of Parliament (MP)-elect for the Keta Constituency is currently receiving treatment at the Keta Government Hospital following an attack on his home. He is on admission at the hospital together with his mother, father, youngest brother and house-help (currently in critical condition) after armed men attacked the family in their home at Anlo-Afiadenyigba, in the Keta Municipality in the early hours of Friday. Mr Agbesi Gakpey, nephew of the MP-elect who spoke to the Ghana News Agency said 10 disguised men with seven armed with rifles attacked the home of his uncle around 0030 hours on Friday.
