A man living at a troubled block of flats has blamed the council for a series of deaths A FATHER living in a troubled housing block claims the council has blood on their hands over a series of deaths at the accommodation. Sam Jeffery lives in Kendal Court, Newhaven, some 15 miles from his family and friends in Brighton and Hove. The notorious 50-unit accommodation is where the city council sends many of its homeless people, who claim it is being used as a dumping ground . Campaigners say people are being abandoned at the block, away from the help from services in the city and without a bus pass to get to them .
A TEENAGER has been robbed at knifepoint at a park in Horsham. Officers were called to a public space opposite Horsham Railway Station at around 9.25pm on Tuesday to reports of a robbery. The victim - a 15-year-old boy - reported being approached by two men brandishing a large, bladed article who took several of his belongings. They then made off towards the railway station. A spokesman from Sussex Police said: Anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and saw anything that could help officers with their enquiries is asked to report online or by calling 101, quoting serial 1493 of 27/07.
The housing of many homeless people outside of the city needs to stop.
East Sussex County Council say they were first alerted about the lack of support given to residents at Kendal Court in Newhaven after seeing a report in this paper in 2018. Today we report on residents at the same block. Residents still feel abandoned and away from their friends and family, miles from services which could help them get back on their feet. We rang the warning bells three years ago, reporting on five deaths at the accommodation over two months. Campaigners claim the death toll is now in the late 20s.
