Expressing his resolve to come down hard on tax evasion, Azhar was confident of achieving a healthy growth in revenues and achieving the set targets. In a series of tweets, Federal Finance Minister Hammad Azhar said the country’s economy will grow at a faster rate this year than the earlier forecasts. “Starting from the next fiscal year, we will be targeting an even higher growth rate that may exceed 4% per annum. This growth will not be based on deficits or depleting reserves but will be sustainable.

ISLAMABAD:
The government is fully committed to implementing structural reforms, protecting social spending and boosting social safety nets in order to protect the vulnerable segments of society, said Finance Minister Hammad Azhar.
The minister’s comments came during a virtual meeting with World Bank Group South Asia Region Vice President Hartwig Schafer on Tuesday.
The finance minister appreciated the pivotal role being played by the World Bank in strengthening governance and service delivery through institutional reforms in Pakistan over the years.

Emphasises need for efforts to provide essential items at fair prices

ISLAMABAD:
Finance Minister Hammad Azhar has stated that controlling inflation is the top most priority of the government.
Chairing a meeting of the National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC) on Monday, Azhar emphasised the need for coordinated and consolidated efforts by all concerned to provide essential items to the general public at fair prices.
NPMC reviewed the price trend of essential commodities, especially wheat flour, sugar, vegetable ghee, chicken and eggs in the last week.
