Orlando Pirates have qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals despite a 1-0 loss to Enyimba in Nigeria on Wednesday night.
The Buccaneers saw fit to give Tshegofatso Mabasa a start following his impact from the bench against Swallows FC and granted Innocent Maela a start after a while on the sidelines.
A confident start from the Soweto giants followed through a powerful first-time shot from outside the area by Vincent Pule, but goalkeeper John Barinyima got across to beat away three minutes in.
Pule was involved again in the Buccaneers’ next threat to goal 12 minutes gone when he drilled a free-kick off the top of the crossbar after a foul on Fortune Makaringe.

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu yesterday ensured that Enyimba FC travelled to Libya to honour their CAF Confederation Cup Group stage date with Al Ahly Benghazi on Thursday, April 22.
The ‘People’s Elephants’ were at risk of missing the group A fixture in Libya as a result of complications in flight and visa requirements for entry into Libya.
The chances of Nigeria’s only representative in the CAF Confederation Cup were in more jeopardy following the refusal of CAF to postpone the match as requested.

Orlando Pirates and ES Setif played to a goalless draw in their CAF Confederation Cup Group A encounter on Wednesday afternoon.
Pirates handed goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontsane a return while Vincent Pule also got a start on the back of his match-winning performance against Maritzburg United in the DStv Premiership on Sunday.
Setif adopted a number of players behind the ball earlier on, as a floating ball from the right-side by Pule and a snap shot on the volley from Deon Hotto brought the first danger.
A goalkeeping alteration on the side of the Buccaneers midway in the second half had Mpontshane removed after battling to carry on playing and Wayne Sandilands called from the bench.
