West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee assured justice to the family of those killed in CISF firing in Cooch Behar and said, "People will give verdict for this crime."
MATHABHANGA (COOCH BEHAR): Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee accused the Centre on Tuesday of “running the polls with goons and guns”. And Prime Minister Narendra Modi has even surpassed Donald Trump while doing that, Banerjee said at an election rally in Cooch Behar’s Mathabhanga.
Referring to Modi’s jibe that the TMC chief had changed her stance over the years and was now casting aspersions on the security forces, Banerjee said: “Yes, Mr Prime Minister, I respect central forces, but only if they are neutral.”
Central forces involved in atrocities against people, including women, are not above the law and will face action, she said. The CM also urged people to lodge FIRs and move the EC for any excesses committed by central forces. Alleging that of the seven-eight people killed since the polls were announced, four were Trinamool workers, Banerjee said, “You keep citing the Bengal panchayat polls, but not so many people lost their lives during that election.
