Mysore/Mysuru: The day-long first ever
City Kannada Sahitya Sammelana got off to a colourful start this morning with the Sammelana Chairperson and veteran woman writer Aryamba Pattabhi, accompanied by City Kannada Sahitya Parishat President K.S. Shivaramu and District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna, being brought in a procession on a motor-powered Sarot (Chariot) from Kuvempu Statue at the main entrance to Manasagangothri from Bogadi road side to Vijnana Bhavan in Manasagangothri campus.
A host of folk troupes too were part of the procession.
Actor ‘Mukhyamantri’ Chandru, who is also a former Chairman of Kannada Development Authority, inaugurated the day-long event by lighting the lamp along with other dignitaries.

M.A. Sriram Several retired professors of University of Mysore gathered in front of Kuvempu Statue in Manasagangothri on Friday to protest against the inordinate delay by the University authorities in paying their pension arrears and other dues.
The professors, who had superannuated after April 1, 2018, had not been paid their full pensionary benefits. Though the matter had been brought to the University authorities and the government several times since June 2020, nothing has materialised so far, the retired professors said.

Mysore/Mysuru: Alleging lack of civic amenities and poor quality of food, over a hundred students of the Old and New Post-Graduate (PG) Men’s Hostels at
Manasagangothri staged a snap stir near Kuvempu Statue at the entrance to the campus from Bogadi Road side this morning.
Claiming that the inmates of the old and new hostels were served food at the common Dining Hall in the old PG hostel, giving a go by to physical distancing norms and other COVID-19 protocol, the protesters alleged that despite several representations to the hostel authorities, they are being served with sub-standard food, with go by given to daily menu.
