Baby Food Contains Dangerous Metal Which Causes Permanent Brain Damage
A congressional investigation has found dangerous levels of toxic metals in baby food jars - and claims manufacturers knew about it.
The report found metals like arsenic, cadmium, mercury, and lead, at levels that exceed what experts and governing bodies say are permissible.
Such metals are often used in pesticides that are sprayed on crops.
The report also claims that manufacturers like Gerber and Happy Baby already knew about toxic metals through their own internal testing.
Heavy metals can be especially damaging to infants with still-developing brains.
The FDA does not currently enforce minimum levels for metals in baby food.
