String Theory To Present String Theory @ Home Virtual Concert Wednesday, February 10, 2021

String Theory at the Hunter, in partnership with Lee University and the Hunter Museum of American Art, will continue it twelfth season with String Theory @ Home, a virtual concert featuring an all-star performance. The event will premiere on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., following a pre-concert Backstage Pass at 6 p.m. to visit with the artists.
Along with Artistic Director Gloria Chien on piano, musicians Edward Arron, cello, Jennifer Frautschi, violin, Paul Neubauer, viola, and Thomas Van Dyck, bass, will perform Schumann’s Piano Trio No. 1 and Fauré’s Piano Quartet No. 1 for a “magical musical evening.”
12 pm ET: Mark Morris Dance Group presents
Dido and Aeneas. A screening of the 1995 film directed by Barbara Willis Sweete who recreated the
Dido and Aeneas set on a sound stage in Toronto and filmed it without the constraints of a proscenium stage and with Morris in his critically acclaimed role. The screening will be followed by a live Q&A with Morris and Sweete and launches a week of activities including talks with dancers and artistic collaborators. Dance with MMDG classes for all levels to learn excerpts of the work; Dance for PD classes appropriate for anyone with mobility concerns. View here and on demand for one week.

Ames Town & Gown Chamber Music Association kicks off its winter-and-spring virtual concert series Friday. The six-event season begins with a concert by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, which features award-winning clarinetist David Shifrin.
The concert streams on-demand Friday through Jan. 28, and access to it is free of charge.
The program will feature music ranging from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to Duke Ellington.
“David Shifrin is one of the country’s most famous clarinetists,” said Paula Forrest, artistic director for Ames Town & Gown. “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center is a group of musicians who all have other positions in the world, like David Shifrin teaches at Yale.
