Op-Ed: 23 Ala. district attorneys sign letter in opposition to medical marijuana legislation (Source: Adam Mintzer) By 23 Alabama district attorneys | April 28, 2021 at 4:47 PM CDT - Updated April 28 at 4:47 PM
Message to House members from DA Andy Hamlin:
Dear Members of the Alabama Legislature:
The attached letter was written on behalf of 23 elected district attorneys representing a significant population of our state. We are unified in our opposition to the proposed legislation that would open the door to a wealth of public health, safety and economic problems that would be difficult to reverse. It is our duty to raise these concerns, and we hope you will consider them carefully before casting any votes that could lead to the serious implications we have outlined here.

James Spann: Alabama gets warm again today
By James Spann
WARM SPRING WEATHER CONTINUES: The sky is mostly cloudy over Alabama early this morning, and we note a few sprinkles on radar just before sunrise. These won’t last long, and the sky becomes partly sunny this afternoon as temperatures rise into the mid 80s again. The average high for Birmingham on April 28 is 77.
The day Thursday will remain warm and generally dry with a high in the 80s; a few isolated showers are possible near the Tennessee state line. A band of showers will push into the state late Thursday night into Friday morning ahead of a cold front; for north and central Alabama the main chance of rain comes from about midnight Thursday night through noon Friday. Showers could linger over the southern counties through the afternoon and evening.
James Spann: A few showers for Alabama late Thursday night, Friday morning

ANOTHER WARM AFTERNOON: Temperatures across Alabama are mostly in the mid 80s this afternoon with a partly sunny sky. There’s nothing on radar and we will stay dry tonight, although low clouds will likely form again after midnight.
The weather won’t change much Thursday; morning clouds will give way to a partly sunny afternoon with a high between 82 and 85 degrees. A cold front will bring a band of showers into the state late Thursday night into Friday morning. It still looks like the best chance of rain will come from about midnight Thursday night until noon Friday for north and central Alabama. Some thunder is possible, but there is no risk of severe thunderstorms. Rain amounts will be generally less than one-half inch for most communities. A few showers could linger across south Alabama Friday afternoon.
