FM blames PML-N govt for Jadhav case ‘botch-up’
Qureshi says present regime only implementing ICJ’s verdict
MULTAN:
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday blamed the previous PML-N government for “messing up” the case of convicted Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, adding that the present regime was taking steps to implement the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) verdict on the matter.
“India doesn’t want consular access to Jadhav, but only seeks to drag Pakistan to the ICJ once again,” he told reporters after laying the foundation stone of Al-Badar Park in Shah Rukn-e-Alam Colony, Multan.
In response to a question about the legislation related to the plea against the spy s sentence, the minister said the government was taking measures on the ICJ’s advice.
Pakistan’s foreign minister has blamed the country’s previous government for “mishandling” the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav, an Indian national convicted for spying by a Pakistani military court four years ago, as legislation related to the cases passes up to Pakistan’s Senate.
Speaking to the media in the Pakistani city of Multan on Sunday, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said a bill passed by the lower house of parliament last week was aimed at complying with orders from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and to deprive India of an opportunity to have Pakistan “dragged back” to the court.

Qureshi accuses PML-N of mishandling Jadhav case
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday said that the previous government of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) had mishandled Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav’s case.
Talking to media after launching the construction of a park, the minister said Pakistan was implementing the ruling of the International Court of Justice.
“We have taken steps to implement the directive of the International Court of Justice. India wants Pakistan to deny consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav so that it could have grounds to go to the ICJ. The opposition should not show ignorance by making statements in this regard. It should avoid strengthening the Indian point of view,” he said.
