Jamiat Ulema e Hind will provide legal assistance to the suspected Al-Qaeda terrorists arrested by the Anti Terror Squad (ATS) this week. The process of using terrorism as a weapon to destroy the lives of Muslim youth continues. Our legal struggle will continue till the honourable release of innocent Muslims, said Maulana Arshad Madani.

There is no other way to explain the detention of Bashir Ahmad Baba. Eleven years ago, Baba, who was 33 at the time, had gone to Gujarat to attend a camp on post-cancer care, when the Gujarat Anti-terror Squad arrested him, accusing him of being a Hizbul Mujahideen “talent-hunter”. Only last month, he was acquitted by a local court after the police had no evidence to support the charges. But life had already changed a lot for Baba he lost his father during his decade-long struggle to prove his innocence, leaving him nursing a life-long regret. “I could not attend the last rites of my father, who died of cancer,” Baba said, having been denied bail to attend his father’s funeral.

Jailed for 27 years under TADA, 92-year-old celebrates his first Ramzan on parole By Usama Hazari|   Published: 29th April 2021 11:57 am IST Dr Habib Ahmed Khan (Credit: The Congnate) Lucknow: 92-year-old Habib Ahmed Khan, a homeopathic doctor based out of Rai Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, is all set to celebrate his first Ramzan at home after being jailed for 27 years at a Jaipur jail. Habib Ahmed Khan was arrested on January 14, 1994, and booked under Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act for five blasts on trains, which killed two and injured eight, on the first anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition.  He was one of the 16 men upon whom the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed charges for ostensibly carried out to avenge the demolition. A confession was recorded and a life sentence was imposed, which was further upheld by the Supreme Court in 2016.
