Many unanswered questions remain for a 16-year-old, Marya Neufeldâs family. According to the Kern County Sheriffâs Office, Marya was found dead with a gunshot wound to her head. The biggest question her aunt and uncle asked when 23ABC spoke to them was why?
âWhy? Every day we have the torture of these thoughts of what could she done to deserve this? How can somebody just do this to somebody and dump them off like trash?â Marya s aunt, Nancy Larson said. âWeâre constantly talking and living in fear with the fact that this could be anybody. Really there was nothing different about Marya than any teenager.â

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â Almost nine months after the tragic death of Deborah Ann Geneau, investigators are releasing details that they hope will lead to the arrest of the suspect in the deadly 2020 hit-and-run.
The law firm Chain Cohn Stiles, who is representing Geneau s family in this case, announced that the Bakersfield Police Department believes the vehicle that caused the crash that killed Geneau had a Proposition 65 warning sticker on the driverâs side windshield.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â UPDATE (March 30, 2021): The Kern County Sheriff s Office has arrested a man in connection to the fatal shooting that took place on March 12th.
According to the KCSO, deputies responded to a shots fired call on March 12th in the 1600 block of Padre Street. When they arrived, they found 22-year-old Lonnie Daniel Hollinquest suffering from possible gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Bakersfield Police Department are investigating after a man died in a traffic collision in Southwest Bakersfield.
According to BPD officers responded to District Boulevard near White Lane just before 10:30 Thursday night for reports of a single vehicle rollover collision. Officers found the driver of the vehicle who had crawled out of the car and was injured. He was taken to Kern Medical where he died.
Officers say that speed appears to be a factor in the collision. They are still waiting on the toxicology results. Anyone with any information is asked to call BPD at 327-7111.
