Writer Yun Ko-eun has won a U.K. crime fiction award for The Disaster Tourist, a satirical eco-thriller.
The book won the translation category at this year s Crime Writers Association s Dagger Awards announced last week.
Yun is the first writer from East Asia to win the honor.
The CWA Daggers are one of the major awards for crime novels in the English-speaking world.
The novel unfolds around a programming coordinator for a travel company specializing in package tours to disaster-stricken areas.
During a trip to a remote desert island, she discovers that the company is trying to fabricate an environmental disaster to make the trip more interesting, putting her own life in danger.
