NEW YORK (WABC) As hate crimes against Asian Americans continue to rise, Eyewitness News hosted a town hall to shed light on the disturbing uptick in unprovoked attacks.
After our Stop the Hate: An Eyewitness News Social Town Hall ABC News Live will air Stop the Hate: The Rise in Violence Against Asian Americans Thursday at 8 p.m., featuring an appearance by Eyewitness News reporter CeFaan Kim.
Meet the panelists:
-Rep. Grace Meng, D-NY: U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng is serving her fifth term in the United States House of Representatives. Grace represents the Sixth Congressional District of New York encompassing the New York City borough of Queens, including west, central and northeast Queens. She is the first and only Asian American Member of Congress from New York State and the first female Congressmember from Queens since former Vice Presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro.
The incident happened Friday just after 6:30 p.m.
Police say two suspects followed a 35-year-old woman into her home after she took out the trash.
She was thrown to the floor while one suspect pointed a gun at her head and threatened to shoot.
The thieves took off with $3,000 in cash, credit cards, iPhones and a Louis Vuitton purse.

The teen s family told Eyewitness News reporter Jim Dolan that he was not there at the time of the incident and did not participate.
Police arrested and charged a 17-year-old male on Friday for the crimes, which damaged a BMW and a taxi and left their occupants shaken up.
The incident was reported Tuesday just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of East 21st Street and Fifth Avenue, and on Thursday, a group of teens surrounded and smashed two cars.
One of the teens allegedly kicked the BMW SUV as a large group surrounded it.
The previously charged teen s parents said he had an alibi, and he was at the Queens Center Mall buying a present for his brother at the time of the incident.
