The government of Pakistan is considering reducing taxes on cars of up to 800cc engine capacity. One thinks that owning a car is still a luxury in Pakistan. There are other more important commodities that can use government-backed subsidies and tax exemptions.
For example, the government should consider reducing taxes on food items, mobile phone services, electricity, water, etc. These are some of the basic needs of people. A majority of people will have some financial relief if the government decides to reduce taxes on these items.
