168 Rohingyas living illegally in Jammu sent to jail, say Officials

Authorities here have sent 168 Rohingyas to jail after they were found living illegally in the city, officials said on Sunday. The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday had began a drive to collect biometric and other details of Rohingyas staying here. The drive is part of an exercise to trace foreigners living in the city without valid documents. At least 168 illegal immigrant Rohingyas have been sent to Hiranagar jail, a senior police officer told PTI. The verification process of Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar was carried out at the MAM Stadium here amid high security, the officials said, adding further verification of the foreigners is going on, they added.

ReNew Power to provide free Covid-19 vaccination to employees, families

Clean energy firm ReNew Power has decided to provide COVID-19 vaccination free of cost to its 1,500 employees as well as their families. Assuming a family of five, back-of-the-envelope calculations indicate that ReNew Power would provide vaccination to around 7,500 people across its 110 locations inIndia. ReNew Power Chairman and Managing Director Sumant Sinha told PTI that the company will bear the full cost of vaccination for its employees and their dependents. He said ReNew has around 1,500 employees, a majority of whom work across its 110 locations across the country. In an e-mail written to employees, Sinha said, We want to ensure that all our employees are working in safe conditions, and getting vaccinated is a crucial safety measure in that regard.

Samsung expands presence in NAND flash market in fourth quarter

Despite revenue decline, Samsung Electronics has further upped its leadership in the global NAND flash market in the fourth quarter of 2020, a report showed on Wednesday. The South Korean tech giant, also the leader in the DRAM sector, had a 32.9 per cent share of the global NAND flash market in terms of revenue in the October-December period, up 1.5 percentage points from a quarter earlier, according to market tracker TrendForce. But Samsung s revenue from NAND flash products came to a total of US$4.64 billion in the last three months of 2020, down 3.4 per cent from a quarter earlier. Samsung s NAND flash bit shipments rose by 7-9 per cent quarter-on-quarter on strong procurements from the smartphone and PC segments, according to TrendForce, but its average selling price (ASP) of NAND flash products declined by more than 10 percent from the previous quarter.

Reorganisation of Andhra Pradesh districts likely to be delayed

The proposed reorganisation of districts in Andhra Pradesh may not happen by the March 31 deadline due to a variety of reasons. A high-level official committee headed by the Chief Secretary, set up for the purpose, could not yet trash out various contentious issues, particularly that related to drawing the borders of the new districts, officials said. Besides, creation of required infrastructure like new office buildings for the newly carved out districts is also seen as a handful task, given the precarious financial position of the state. In respect of staffing, the panel is said to have noted that no new posts need to be created as the existing ranks could be distributed and re-assigned.
