Triathlon coach Mark Turner training in Pukekura Park with Cape Egmont Half Marathon organiser Nicky Smith. OPINION: I was having a conversation with one of the ladies at our group run last weekend. She was at the back of the group as we came towards the end of our run but running very well. She commented that she was slower than everyone else and even apologised. Straight away I told her she had nothing to apologise for and was running very well. I reminded her how far she had come in the last few months and the significant improvements she had made with her running. I said don’t compare yourself to others but rather who you were yesterday and to reflect on how far she has come.
