Experts help New Mexicans with greatest foe: pollen You know the pollen count is elevated and allergy season is here if you have itchy eyes, a red, swollen nose that’s runny with clear fluid or itchiness in the nose, throat, ears and mouth. Allergy season usually begins in February in the Albuquerque area and sticks around through May or June, says Dr. Mark Schuyler, an allergist for The University of New Mexico Hospital and a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. According to the 2018 National Health Interview Survey conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 19.2 million adults suffered from hay fever, also known as allergic rhinitis, during a 12-month period. People with asthma have to take extra care during allergy season.

Hospital Board to Discuss Next Step in Master Plan – Sheridan Media

The next steps for the Master Plan for the Johnson County Healthcare Center was touched on by the hospital board at their recent meeting. Not only capital construction projects, but looking at the possibility of financing those projects at the current lower interest rates to save money in the long run. CEO Sean McCallister said he would like to bring Dan Odasz from Plan One Architects to a future meeting to help the board update their Master Site Plan now that some of those projects have been completed with COVID-19 funds. McCallister said he would like to have the board discuss the Master Site Plan and a new electronic medical records system for the facility.

JCHC Board Votes to Pay Off Foundation Loan – Sheridan Media

The Hospital Board of Trustees for the Johnson County Healthcare Center, during their regular meeting Wednesday night, voted to pay back the remaining money from a loan acquired from the Hospital Foundation. The hospital owes just under $600,000 of the money borrowed from the foundation used for the construction of the Amie Holt Care Center. According to discussions at the meeting, the hospital makes two $85,000 payments annually to the foundation, and it would take about 3 ½ years to pay back the balance at that rate. Board President Dr. Mark Schueler said the JCHC’s current positive financial situation, with about $12 million in the bank, means that it makes financial sense for the JCHC to pay back the loan balance now, and means the Foundation would be able to use the funds now if needed.
