J.F. Brennan Company has expanded its operations, opening a new Mid-South branch in Paducah, Ky.
Brennan is a fourth-generation, family-owned marine construction firm headquartered in La Crosse, Wis., with additional offices throughout Wisconsin as well as in Illinois, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Minnesota. It has more than 500 employees.
The new Mid-South location will focus on prevalent infrastructure needs in the Paducah area, including marine and dam construction, harbor management and dive services, said Mark Binsfeld, vice president of business development.

The new site opened February 22 at 6410 Kentucky Dam Road in Paducah. Leading it is Robert “Bob” Wheeler, who joined Brennan from Shimmick Construction Company and was involved in the construction of Olmsted Locks and Dam and the rehabilitation of the Lagrange Lock and Dam.

La Crosse, Wis.-based dredging, diving and marine construction company J.F. Brennan Company said it established a permanent Mid-South Region presence in Paducah, Ky., and will provide all Brennan services, including above and below-water construction and environmental remediation services.
The Mid-South team consists of locals in the area and is under the leadership of Robert Bob Wheeler, who recently joined Brennan from Shimmick Construction Company, Inc. and most notably worked on the Olmsted Lock & Dam and the LaGrange Lock & Dam Major Rehabilitation projects, both operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Paducah is well-known as a hub for dry dock, barge and railway operations. Located near the confluence of the Mississippi, Ohio, Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers, the new location enables Brennan to better serve the infrastructure needs of clients along the inland waterways of the U.S., the company said, noting it is looking to expand its ca

J.F. Brennan Company announced February 24 that it has begun a Small Business Administration-certified joint venture with Ahtna Marine & Construction Company LLC.
The partnership establishes a mentor-protégé relationship between Brennan and Alaska Native Corporation subsidiary AMCC. Together, the companies will bid and execute specific environmental dredging and dam construction projects throughout the United States.
“Our joint venture combines Brennan’s 100 years of experience and AMCC’s reputable SBA 8(a) certified status to better serve clients like the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers small business programs,” said Mark Binsfeld, Brennan vice president of business development.

J.F. Brennan Company has announced the asset acquisition of New England-based Specialty Diving Services, Inc (SDS).
The acquisition combines two established union companies that specialize in commercial diving and heavy marine construction.
Founded in 1986, SDS is headquartered at the Port of Davisville in North Kingstown, Rhode Island within a short range of Boston and New York.
The acquisition enables Brennan to establish another strategic location in the New England area, a reputable client list, and a local workforce of experienced marine professionals, said the company in their latest release.
