Veritas crowns Pete Murray as new A/NZ MD
Murray will focus on strengthening strategic relationships with partners and customers.

Security vendor Veritas has hired Pete Murray as its new managing director for Australia and New Zealand, taking over from Howard Fyfe, who left the company earlier this year.
Murray comes to the role after two years at Pure Storage and previously spent 13 years at Dimension Data. His earlier career also features stints at Telstra, Touchbase and Avaya.
He will be responsible for leading Veritas overall strategy, sales operations and new business growth in the A/NZ region.

A Veritas salesman had £275,000 in windfall commission withheld after helping land the largest ever deal in Veritas s history – and a judge found a clause in his employment contract which made it lawful to do that.
Danny Johnston failed to prove that Veritas Technologies (UK) had unlawfully deducted the whopping sum from his February 2020 paycheque – meaning he was left with a mere £232,000 with which to console himself.
Despite showing Employment Judge Jim Young a copy of an email from Veritas s UK managing director praising him for being part of its HSBC team that last year signed the largest ever deal in Veritas s history, Johnston failed to prove that he was legally entitled to the £275k commission, over and above the £232k the company did pay him.

Whether it is electric cars or coffeemakers, the electrons in the electric must come from somewhere. Roughly 20% of U.S. energy comes from nuclear power. This number is expected to rise to meet carbon-free power demands, particularly in fossil-fuel-dependent areas where alternatives like hydropower, wind, or solar aren t an option or need a boost because they tend to be intermittent.
Companies are developing smaller and safer reactor technology to meet rising energy demands. Long before an excavator breaks ground to construct a new nuclear reactor, however, there s a multi-million-dollar licensing process to evaluate new designs. This process can take nearly half a decade to navigate.

Veritas culls A/NZ lead in global restructure
Trans-Tasman MD Howard Fyffe departs as regional leadership shifts to Singapore

Veritas has axed local leadership in Australia and New Zealand as managing director Howard Fyffe departs after three years.
The data management software vendor will now be run by Singapore-based Andy Ng, who will expand his role from vice president of sales for Asia South to Asia South Pacific.
Meanwhile, as part of a global restructure, UK-based SVP of international sales Mark Nutt will now oversee that side of the business in A/NZ.
