Aus Deutschland Allianz und Munich Re Acht große europäische Versicherer und Rückversicherer wollen gemeinsam einen aktiven Beitrag zum Klimaschutz leisten. Die Mitglieder der neu gegründeten “Net-Zero Insurance Alliance (NZIA)” verpflichten sich dazu, ihre Versicherungs-Portfolien bis 2050 unter dem Strich frei von CO 2-Emissionen zu machen. Neben der französischen AXA gehören dem Bündnis Allianz und Munich Re aus Deutschland, Zurich und Swiss Re aus der Schweiz an. Die Versicherer wollen sich individuell Ziele geben, die alle fünf Jahre überprüft werden sollen. Über die Fortschritte wollen sie jedes Jahr berichten. Der UN-Sondergesandte für den Klimaschutz, Mark Carney sagte, jetzt werde die Versicherbarkeit von Unternehmen oder deren Anlagen letztlich daran geknüpft, ob sie glaubwürdige Strategien für den Übergang in eine treibhausgasneutrale Welt haben.

To be sure, the carbon intensity of the energy supply in G20 countries is declining. Coal use is falling, power-sector pollution is edging down, and a host of new clean-transport policies is being rolled out. G20-led initiatives to encourage businesses to disclose climate risks are starting to bear fruit.
