India is currently facing a critical period where the spread of the pandemic has resulted in a huge loss of precious lives. On a daily basis, hundreds of people are testing positive. Sadly, one death every four minutes is being reported only in Delhi.
The WHO has described the terrible situation in India as beyond heart-breaking . The Indian media is broadcasting horrific news reports in which ambulances are shifting large numbers of dead bodies of Covid-19 victims to perform their last rites. Unfortunately, many helpless people are still in search of oxygen.
Pakistan and India share a glorious history of struggle against British imperialism. Even today, many freedom fighters including Bhagat Singh, Hasrat Mohani, Mangal Pandey and Kadu Makrani live in the hearts of the people of both countries.

Jalandhar: Worried over the ongoing shortage of medical oxygen in the wake of the deadly COVID-19 second wave in the country, Amritsar Member Parliament (MP) and Congress leader Gurjeet Singh Aujla on Monday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a special ‘oxygen corridor’ from Pakistan.
In his letter, Aujla wrote that India’s hospitals are facing an alarmingly high shortage of liquid oxygen, ventilators, BiPAPs, oxygenators, PPE etc. due to the spike in COVID-19 cases, according to The Wire.

Punjab Congress leader accused the central government of not cooperating with the state in importing oxygen from Pakistan
A Punjab Congress leader has accused the central government of preventing the supply of oxygen from Pakistan and has warned that even if a single person dies because of lack of oxygen in the state, the Indian government would be held responsible.
Sunil Jakhar, the chief of the Punjab Congress accused the central government of not cooperating with the state in importing oxygen from Pakistan. “Chief minister Amarinder Singh told us that he had taken up the matter with the union home ministry and the external affairs ministry, but has not got a positive response as yet,” said Jakhar. “If we get the oxygen, we will bear the financial burden on our own. There is an emergent need to save the people of the state.”
