May 3, 2021 LANSING Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the following appointments to the Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commission, Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports, Horse Racing Advisory Commission, and the Michigan Council for Rehabilitation Services. Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commission William A. Miller, III, of Farmington, is a county commissioner for Oakland County. He is also the business representative and political director for Operating Engineers 324. Mr. Miller is appointed to represent local units of government for a term commencing May 28 and expiring May 27, 2024. He succeeds Hank Kelley whose term expires May 27. The Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commission shall identify traffic safety challenges and develop, promote, and implement strategies to address those challenges. United Blind Persons of Fiji is an NGO that advocates for the rights of persons with disabilities especially for visually impaired and low vision persons. Chairperson of National Disability Awards Rajnel Prasad says this donation is part of their community service program that will assist visually impaired students that cannot afford to buy a white cane.

Labor and Economic Opportunity BSBP Townhall Meetings for Post Secondary Training Policy Review The Bureau of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP) held new Post-Secondary Policy change meetings that will be in effect for the Fall 2021 semester (August 2021). BSBP continues to value higher education and is in support of Michigan s 60 by 30 initiative. It is BSBP s goal to continue to support customers in obtaining and maintaining employment in positions that offer high wages, opportunities for advancement and health benefits, while ensuring services that are provided in this category continue to be Reasonable, Allocable, Allowable and Necessary (RAAN) and support the achievement of competitive integrated employment.
