The Algoma district saw 18 new cases of COVID-19 in the last week. Five of the new cases were from Elliot Lake and area while new cases in Central and East Algoma had impacts on a business and school in Blind River. Algoma Public Health announced two new cases of COVID-19 in the district on Feb. 1 with one in Elliot Lake and one in Central and East Algoma. Both case 166 and 167 are due to unknown exposure and are both self-isolating. The health unit issued a potential public exposure advisory for anyone visiting the Blind River Tim Hortons following the announcement of two new cases of COVID-19 on Feb. 2. The restaurant, on Causley Street (Highway 17), is currently closed as a precaution.
