The 19-member Committee considers applications for consultative status and requests for reclassification submitted by non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Once an application has been reviewed and approved by the Committee, it is considered recommended for consultative status. Organizations which were granted general and special status can attend meetings of the Council and issue statements, while those with general status can also speak during meetings and propose agenda items. The Christians, Haroon Ayub Masih and Salamat Mansha Masih, both in their 20s, were in Lahore s Model Town Park, CBN News reports. The two believers were approached by a group of Muslims and told they should not read the Bible in public, says attorney Aneeqa Maria of The Voice Society. One of the Christians told the group it was not illegal to read the Bible in public in Pakistan and told them they had no right to stop them.

2 Pakistani Christians Charged with Blasphemy Just for Studying Bible in Local Park

02-18-2021 Two Christians in Lahore, Pakistan, have been charged with blasphemy after Muslims objected to their Bible study in a local park last weekend.  Morning Star News (MSN) reports Haroon Ayub Masih, 26, and friend Salamat Mansha Masih, who s also in his twenties, were studying the Bible in Lahore s Model Town Park on Saturday when a group of Muslims approached the two men and told them they should not read the Bible in public, attorney Aneeqa Maria of The Voice Society said. When Masih told them that reading the Bible in public was not a crime in Pakistan and that they had no right to stop them, the Muslims began questioning them about their Christian faith and asked if they had any reading material to help them understand the Bible, Maria said.
