Colleges in Central Massachusetts are due to receive an estimated $100 million among them under the latest federal pandemic aid program.
The most funds will go towards colleges whose students are more likely to receive financial-need-based Pell Grants, including Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, due to receive more than $18 million, and Worcester State University, which is in line for more than $13 million, according to the Washington, D.C., industry group American Council on Education.
Half of the amount each college receives must go toward student grants, a similar standard put in place last year when colleges nationwide first received coronavirus pandemic-related aid. In that case last April, Central Massachusetts colleges received a total of $33 million.
