Around February 19, a picture of a young Adivasi woman did the rounds of media and police circles in Chhattisgarh. The woman, Pandey Kawasi, 20, wore a white t-shirt with the words âLon Varratuâ printed on it â referring to a
campaign launched by the Dantewada police to convince Maoists to âsurrenderâ, after which theyâll be rehabilitated. Dantewada is one of the areas of Chhattisgarh thatâs worst affected by Maoist activity.
