Realtor accuses city corporation official of demanding Rs 2cr bribe for layout nod | Coimbatore News

Representative image COIMBATORE: A city-based realtor alleged that the city corporation has not handed over the original copy of final layout plan approval despite paying all the fees months ago. He alleged though approval has been granted by the civic body and he possessed a copy of it, the original was not being given as corporation authorities were demanding bribe for it. He has sent a petition to the corporation commissioner, chief secretary and Directorate of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) seeking their intervention in the issue. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, B Somasundaram said that he along with his associates had planned to develop a layout on 62.38 acres at Kalapatti in the east zone of the corporation limit.

Coimbatore: The swab collection centre for RT-PCR test at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) was shifted to St. Francis Anglo Indian Girls High School located next door on Monday to reduce crowding on the tertiary hospital’s premises. Corporation commissioner Kumaravel Pandian inspected CMCH premises on Monday to see if all Covid-19 precautions were being followed. Alarmed by the crowded swab collection centre, he suggested ways to decongest the campus. “There is crowding at the testing centre because there is not enough space for people to wait and distance themselves. The lack of space is because of too many ambulances driving in and piling up at the same drop-off point,” an official said.

Parking of both four-wheelers and two-wheelers by visitors has also been shifted out to the Government Arts College located diagonally opposite to the hospital’s back gate. Officials felt that vehicle parking was taking up space that could otherwise be used by patients and attendants to socially distance themselves.
