Lanka Marine Services Relaunches VLSFO Bunker Supply at Hambantota by Ship & Bunker News Team Thursday March 4, 2021 Lanka Marine Services (Pvt) Limited (LMS) has relaunched supply of 0.5% sulfur VLSFO at Port Hambantota, Chinese state energy company LMS expects to place its bunker barge MT Kumana at the port of Hambantota and supply to vessels that are passing by in the ISR (International Shipping Route), a spokesperson for LMS told Ship & Bunker via email. Product is stored at the HIPG (Hambantota International Port of Group (Pvt) Ltd) terminal. The cargo imports are done by Sinopec Sri Lanka with whom LMS has entered into a strategic partnership.

Hambantota International Port (HIP) said in a statement on Monday. LMS supplied IMO 2020 compliant Very Low Sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) to their client, crude oil tanker m.v. Suez Hans, which was on route to the Suez from Chennai, HIP said. The tanker refuelled at the Hambantota Port anchorage via oil barge m.v. Kumana, chartered to LMS by HIP, to handle the bunker supply. Photos: Hambantota International Port Hambantota International Port (HIP) has launched the wholesale supply bunker fuels with Sinopec which it believes will bring competitive pricing for refueling at the Sri Lankan port. HIP has formed a strategic partnership with Sinopec Fuels of Lanka (SOFL) which intends to expand Sri Lanka’s share of the regional bunker market and has invested over $5m in a tanker which flies the Sri Lankan flag. Operations have now started with local bunker supplier Lanka Marine Services (LMS) as SOFL’s first buyer supplying very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) to the tanker Suez Hans enroute from Chennai to Suez. The tanker refueled at the Hambantota Port anchorage via oil barge Kumana, chartered to LMS by HIP.
