Singapore is one of the more active countries when it comes to being environmentally conscious.
While the country may have a minuscule 0.11 per cent contribution to global emissions, it is adversely affected by global climate change by a healthy margin like the rest of the world.
And that’s why Singapore committed to halve its 2030 peak greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and to achieve net-zero emissions “as soon as it’s viable.”
For a country that has limited access to renewable resources, the number may seem ambitious, but it is achievable. And for that, it needs citizens who are responsible for the climate and climate change.

As part of a collaborative initiative called “Be a Litter Hero,” a program created by Borough President James Oddo and Richmond County District Attorney Michael E. McMahon, three local school students volunteered to clean up a strip of unsightly debris that had accumulated in a lot on Todt Hill.

Christian Wakeford MP with volunteers from Radcliffe Litter Pickers BURY South MP Christian Wakeford is backing a new campaign from Keep Britain Tidy as it launches its Great British Spring Clean . The environmental charity is asking everyone to pledge to do their bit to clear up the litter that blights our neighbourhoods between May 28 to June 13 this year. This year’s campaign comes as the charity has reported a massive increase in the number of people who have started litter-picking during the various lockdowns. On Thursday, March 31, Mr Wakeford joined the volunteers from the Radcliffe Litter Picker group to help clean up around Scotson Fold in Radcliffe. Over 16 bags of rubbish were collected with anything from old tyres to plastic bags removed from the area.
