According to an eye-witness, at least eight fruit shops were completely charred in the fire mishap. The fire might have broke out owing to an electrical short-circuit, the eye-witness added.
On being informed, a fire-fighting team immediately rushed to the spot and doused the flames. However, the exact cause behind the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained.
The critically injured shopkeeper Kunu Dalei was rescued by the fire personnel and admitted to Santha Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir town for treatment.

Bolangir: A major fire broke out in a fruit market near the Government bus stand in Bolangir district late last night.
Reportedly, one person was critically injured and property worth lakhs of rupees was reduced ashes in the mishap.
The victim has been identified as Kunu Dalei. He has been admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital here for treatment.
According to sources, eight fruit shops were gutted in the blaze.
On being informed, personnel of fire department reached the spot and doused the flames. However, the cause behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.
