Changing Lives for the World On Sept. 30, 2016, nearly 150 guests gathered to honor Robert ’55, ‘06 (Hon.) and Ellen ’54, ’06 (Hon.) Thompson in the very building named in the couple’s honor. The University’s first Lifetime Achievement Award was given to the Thompsons in recognition of their commitment to their alma mater and to the future of BGSU. “How perfect to celebrate the Thompsons’ vision, generosity and kindness in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union,” said President Mary Ellen Mazey as she detailed the couple’s remarkable dedication to student success. “They serve as an example on how philanthropy at BGSU can change lives.” Bob has said that BGSU changed his life because he met his Falcon Flame, Ellen, at a fraternity – sorority mixer while they were students here a generation ago. Ellen was a member of Gamma Phi Beta, the Swan Club and the Key yearbook staff. Bob was a member of Sigma Nu and the Arnold Air Society and was involved with football. Af

Alumnus pays it forward with BGSU students By Robin Stanton Gerrow Geoffrey Radbill 68 found his experience at BGSU life changing and believes his time at the university helped set the stage for his future success. He retired in 2003 as senior vice president and chief operating officer of retail distribution at AXA-Equitable after 36 years with the company. Radbill has been named a national trustee of Bowling Green State University. The BGSU Board of Trustees voted at its Feb. 23 meeting to approve his three-year term, effective May 6, 2018. National trustees are alumni or friends of BGSU who do not live in Ohio but who can advocate for higher education and are nationally prominent in their fields.

All BGSU students expected to be tested before start of spring semester

Free coronavirus testing for Bowling Green State University students who live off campus will be offered starting Tuesday. For students living off campus, BGSU will provide free COVID-19 testing in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union, according to the Wednesday university update on coronavirus. This testing is free and available by appointment for BGSU students. Times and dates for PCR COVID-19 testing, with results in 24-48 hours, is available on the Forward Falcons website, https://www.bgsu.edu/covid19/testing.html, where students can sign up for a test now. This free on-campus testing will focus first on students as they return to Bowling Green from hometown communities. Testing for faculty and staff will be offered after the semester begins.
