“There is a market distortion” in the digital payments industry today between incentives for earning revenues and growth, according to Sameer Nigam, chief executive officer, PhonePe. While the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) recently issued guidelines for its market share caps on the Unified Payments Interface, Nigam believes that without a merchant-discount-rate future investments in the sector could be threatened.
Nigam was speaking during discussion organised by Moneycontrol on the Future of Digital Payments in India on Clubhouse, the audio-only meeting app. Other participants in the discussion included Dilip Asbe, CEO, NPCI; Harshil Mathur, CEO, Razorpay; and Vikram Vaidyanathan, managing director, Matrix Partners India.

You know what they say in Tinseltown – another day, another delay. Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City (as it is now officially titled) is no longer releasing in September and is being pushed back by two months.
The zombie flick is now slated to release on Nov 24, 2021 instead of its initial Sept 3 date. Sony didn’t give a reason for the push back, but the new release date means Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City will no longer release at the same time as Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
With moviegoing struggling to pick up in the US, the delay may be a strategical move to space out Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City from the big-budget superhero movie. This is not a strategy new to the movie-making industry.

“Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City” has been pushed two months from Sept. 3 to Nov. 24, Sony Pictures announced on Wednesday.
Johannes Roberts (“47 Meters Down”) is directing and writing the origin story that will travel to Raccoon City in 1998, when a zombie apocalypse spread as a result of a deadly virus and bioweapon unleashed by the Umbrella Corporation. Roberts said the new film will be based largely on the first two video games in the “Resident Evil” franchise.
