Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development Tracy Davidson-Celestine has called for the public to pay attention to the science, as she called for vigilance amid the spike in covid19 cases.
On Monday her division announced one covid19 patient was discharged, taking the active cases in Tobago down from 47 – the largest number of positive cases on the island since the pandemic started.
The situation is much worse nationally with 241 new cases reported by the Ministry of Health on Sunday.

THA Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development Tracy Davidson-Celestine has said over 2,000 people in Tobago have received the covid19 vaccine to date.
She was speaking at the weekly post-Executive Council news conference held virtually on Wednesday.
On March 31, TT received 33,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines in the first tranche from the World Health Organization’s Covax facility. Of those, Tobago got 3,000 doses, enough for 1,500 people.
This was the second batch of vaccines to arrive in Tobago, as it received 200 doses in February, part of a gift of 2,000 doses to TT from Barbados. These were offered to 100 frontline healthcare professionals.

Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development Tracy Davidson-Celestine says there is still too much congregating at weddings and funerals.
She made the statement on Wednesday after Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh announced a return to several anti-covid19 measures to address the spike in cases.
Deyalsingh, at the Ministry of Health’s Wednesday covid19 update, banned public gatherings for entertainment and concerts. Beaches will also remain closed.
He said weddings and funerals will be limited ten people and congregations at places of worship have been reduced from 50 per cent capacity to 25 per cent. The public service has reverted to 50 per cent office attendance on a rotational basis.

Two PNM assemblymen have received the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines, and two more are expected to get their jabs later this week.

On April 13, Trinidad and Tobago received a donation of 40,000 AstraZeneca doses from India, enough to vaccinate 20,000 people.
