General manager of primary care at the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) Dr Roxanne Mitchell has said the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccination process is encouraging thus far, despite “kinks.”
“I am heartened by the response,” Mitchell told Newsday by phone on Wednesday.
“We are still working out some kinks, because we are human at the end of the day. We are trying our best to ensure that we can roll out safely and effectively and looking to see how best we can improve going forward in the event we have to ramp up the vaccine distributions.”

Minister of health gets Covid-19 jab, says T&T set to surpass daily vaccination target
Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh received his vaccination against Covid-19 today. Before the jab, the health minister said that he was happy about the start of the vaccine rollout.
“From all reports so far, barring a couple hiccups, which you will expect, things have gone relatively smoothly. We have been able to hit our target of 1000 doses per day,” he said.

PRESIDENT Paula-Mae Weekes, her mother Phyllis Weekes, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh and Secretary for Health, Wellness and Family Development Tracy Davidson-Celestine were among the 1053 people who received the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine on Tuesday.
At the St Joseph Enhanced Health Centre shortly before being inoculated, Deyalsingh said the Government will increase the sites in the coming weeks to allow for more than 1000 daily doses to be administered.
