Gujarat Civic Polls: Voting Underway for Election to 6 Municipal Corporations
A total of 2,276 candidates are contesting the polls in the six municipal corporations. Besides, nine candidates are also in the fray for by-elections to two seats in the Junagadh Municipal Corporation.

Ahmedabad: Elections to six municipal corporations in Gujarat are being held on Sunday amid tight security and adherence to COVID-19 norms.
People started queuing up outside polling booths soon after the voting began at 7 am across various wards in the six municipal corporations in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Jamnagar and Bhavnagar. The voting will continue till 5 pm.
Irani chalenged Gandhi after the latter vowed to increase the wages of tea garden workers in Assam, taking from the fortunes of Gujarat traders, if voted to power in Assam.

Ahmedabad: Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani on Sunday said his government will soon bring a strict law against ‘love jihad’ in the state.
He made the announcement while addressing a poll rally in Vadodara ahead of the municipal corporation elections.
“We are going to bring a law against ‘love jihad’ in the assembly. Such activities being done in the name of ‘love jihad’ will not be tolerated…The BJP government will bring strict laws against love jihad in the coming days,” he said.

AHMEDABAD: A BJP MLA in Gujarat on Monday threatened to finish off reporters when they sought his reaction on whether his son, who had filed nomination papers for upcoming elections to Vadodara municipal corporation, has three children which is the violation of poll norms.
The nomination of Deepak Shrivastav, son of the MLA Madhu Shrivastav, was finally rejected on Monday evening over the issue of the number of children, a poll official said.
