LOWER MERIONÂ â Although elections in Lower Merion and Narberth have become less competitive over the years, there will be one contested election as a result of Tuesday s Primary Election in Lower Merion this November.
On Tuesday, Democrats and Republicans in Lower Merion and Narberth went to the polls to elect a slate of four candidates for open seats on the school board.
Taking the four Democratic nominations as the endorsed candidates were Anna R. Shurak with 9,862 votes, Melanie Schafmeister with 9,484 votes and Kerry Sautner with 9,362 votes. Although not formally endorsed by the local Democratic committee but running with the slate of endorsed Democrats, Kimberly Garrison received 5,890 votes to be the final Democratic candidate.
LOWER MERION Several former and current Lower Merion commissioners and community members came out to wish an online goodbye for the four decades of service Bob Duncan gave to Lower Merion Township.
âAfter 40 years of service, our assistant manager has finally found the keys to the back door, and he plans to leave to retire,â Dan Bernheim, president of the Lower Merion Board of Commissioners, said.
Duncan, who most recently served as the townshipâs assist manager, announced a few weeks ago he would be retiring. The township has already hired Jim Smith, who most recently was the senior manager in Sarasota, Florida, and also served as borough manager in Media, Delaware County, for 20 years.
