Little Simz, the Islington rapper Simbi Ajikawo, released the critically-praised, lockdown-generated Drop 6 EP, which itself was a brisk, deeply personal follow-up to her Ivor Novello-winning, Mercury Prize-nominated third album, 2019 s GREY Area. (Little Simz also did an FUV Live session two years ago too.) On September 3, Little Simz releases her fourth album, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, and on UKNY at 11 tonight, the epic first single from that album, a collaboration between Simz, her longtime producer Inflo and pal Cleo Sol (the pair are also at the heart of the somewhat anonymous collective, Sault), and even actress Emma Corrin, who played Diana, Princess of Wales, in The Crown.

Themes of mundaneness and repetition are contrasted by hope for a better tomorrow, along with upbeat compositions that one can both dance

I’m Not the One released in May 2019 which incorporated a heavier rock influence, Dress Up For You sees the band dial it down for a slower and more calming atmosphere. Working again with LA based producer Jon Joseph, Brennan Smiley’s distinct vocals sing about wanting to impress a potential love interest that’s out of his reach over slow melodic guitars. Dress Up For You was released alongside a visualiser that shows a hallucinatory image of a tiger, with a full music video suggested from a video on their Twitter. The Technicolors’ last album ‘Metaphysical’ was released way back in 2017, so this dramatic comeback has excited fans for the potential of a new full-length album for the band.
