The Dresswala s Tale

The Dresswala’s Tale One star dimmed, another dazzled in true Bollywood tradition Ramdas Madvi was getting restive as Madam had not come. It was already 9.30 PM. This does not usually happen. Though weak and frail with cancer sapping all her youthfulness, she walks to his vegetable pushcart to collect some capsicum, tomatoes, potatoes and cauliflower meant to be discarded after the day’s brisk business. Ramdas, however, keeps fresh vegetables in his cane tokri. But he tells Madam they are all meant to be thrown away, as he keeps his pushcart in a warehouse a little way from the Bandra train station.

Submergence by Arula Ratnakar : Clarkesworld Magazine - Science Fiction & Fantasy

Science Fiction & Fantasy   by Arula Ratnakar As the people began to die, desperation drove us to the depths of the sea for cures. We mined mineral-rich vents until the tube worms went extinct, stripped polymetallic nodule fields bare, squeezed sludge out of sea sponges to treat the new diseases, these monstrous incurable plagues, born from our new climate, that spread through our air. He didn’t pursue acting, however, preferring to be behind the camera for most part. His best film as an actor is said to be Kora Kagaz (1974). The film, directed by Anil Ganguly, was based on the 1963 Bengali film Saat Pake Bandha directed by Ajoy Kar, and starred Suchitra Sen and Soumitra Chatterjee. He played a college professor who marries a much younger girl (Jaya Bhaduri),  from a wealthy family. The girl’s mother doesn’t like the fact that their son-in-law isn’t
