NEW DELHI: Farmers at Delhi s three protest sites Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur border points were busy with their last-minute preparations on Monday ahead of their much-anticipated tractor parade on January 26.
A five-layer security cover comprising of border pickets, inner, middle and outer security has been deployed in and around the city to maintain law and order during the Republic Day ceremony and the proposed tractor parade, a senior police officer said. March to be peaceful
The farmers said that one of the major highlights of the parade on Tuesday will be the jhankis (tableaux) that will be led by a trolley carrying the sacred text of the Guru Granth Sahib.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has issued an alert to power companies days after Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), an outlawed organisation, urged agitating farmers to disrupt electricity supply in the national capital on Republic Day.
SFJ, a pro-Khalistan group, has last week called upon the farmers protesting against the three farm laws to “plunge Delhi into darkness on R-day” by targeting the offices of discoms and disrupting the power supply in the national capital.

New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar termed Monday the government’s proposal to suspend new farm laws for 1-1.5 years as the ‘best offer’. He said he hoped that the protesting farmers’ unions will soon reconsider it and convey their decision. The talks between the government and 41 protesting farmers’ unions have remained inconclusive even after 11 rounds of discussions. During the 10th round of talks, the government had climbed down and offered a proposal to keep the new laws in abeyance for 1-1.5 years, but it was rejected by the unions.
