Starkville city leaders approved $49K bid for security cameras around town
Officials will start adding the surveillance cameras in McKee Park and the Sportsplex.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - City leaders in Oktibbeha County took the next step to keep highly visited areas safe.
Starkville Police recorded a big rise in crime in the area earlier this year.

Those investigations included gunfire at McKee Park, a place many parents enjoy bringing their children.
Hunter Brown is a father to his 18-month-old son.
He is one of those parents who likes to bring his child to the playground at the park; however, he fears sometimes it isn t the safest place for kids.
