Indian racer CS Santosh remains under observation, given clearance to fly back to India

Renowned off-road motorcycle racer CS Santosh continues to be “under observation” but has been cleared to fly back to India, his team Hero MotoSports said on Tuesday, days after he suffered a crash at the ongoing Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia.
The 37-year-old Santosh, who was representing the two-wheeler manufacturing giant in one of the world’s biggest rallies, suffered the crash last Wednesday and was airlifted to a hospital in Jeddah.
Stage 7 of the 2021 Dakar Rally is also the first half of the marathon stage and saw Hero's Joaquim Rodrigues finish in 9th place, while Sebastian Buhler remains steady at 21st. Harith Noah progressed to 25th at the end of the day. The marathon stage sees rider get no assistance from their crews overnight.

Well-known Indian motorcycle racer CS Santosh suffered a crash during the ongoing Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia and was put in a medically-induced coma after being airlifted to a hospital in Riyadh.
The 37-year-old Santosh, who was representing the Hero MotoSports in one of the world’s biggest rallies, crashed on Wednesday and is being kept under a 24-hour observation.
“We are pleased to share that he has no major physical injuries except for the dislocated right shoulder and head trauma. The latest scans have also shown no major issue that could impact his full recovery,” Hero MotoSports said in a statement.

His team, Hero MotoSports Team Rally, noted that following the crash, Santosh was immediately tended to by the on-ground medical team. While he was found to be stable on site, he has been moved to a hospital in Riyadh for further and thorough evaluation. Now new media reports have emerged, claiming the Bengaluru-based racer has been put in an induced coma.
