The first statistical update from the local health unit over the last 72 hours Monday afternoon added 39 positive COVID-19 cases.
But, the number of active cases was down considerably, from 248 on Friday to 209 three days later.

Sadly, the pandemic death toll increased, with one more victim, bringing the number to 102.
There are 14 hospitalized patients, and five are in ICU.
There’ve been 4,567 cases since the pandemic began in March 2020.
“We’ve had some good downward trends (in recent weeks),” said Dr. Paul Roumeliotis, during his Monday afternoon media briefing. “Our number of (institutional outbreaks) are down to three, when a couple of weeks ago we were in the teens.”

The region’s medical officer of health on Thursday afternoon said public health measures strengthened several weeks ago are key to the dropping number of COVID-19 cases for Cornwall and area.
On Thursday afternoon, the Eastern Ontario Health Unit reported an additional 15 positive cases in the last day; there were no new cases across SDG, just three in Cornwall, with 12 occurring in Prescott-Russell.

Active COVID-19 cases continued to decline on Friday within the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, as 24 new cases were reported.
At the time of publication, there was a glitch in the counts on the EOHU’s summary page highlighting the day-to-day changes; it listed an increase of only 13 cases, however by comparing the municipal breakdown numbers from Thursday to Friday, the increase was 24.

Of the information posted by the health unit Friday, four of the new cases are in Cornwall, two in North Glengarry, two in South Stormont, two in North Stormont, five in Russell, one in Hawkesbury, and eight in Clarence-Rockland. The running total of cases within the region now sits at 4,528.

The Eastern Ontario Health Unit posted 21 new confirmed COVID-19 cases Wednesday, with no decrease in the number of active cases.
Eight of the new cases are in Cornwall, two in South Glengarry, two in South Stormont, one in North Stormont, one in Russell, and seven in Clarence-Rockland. The running total of confirmed cases within the region now sits at 4,448.

There did not appear to be any cases set as resolved since Tuesday’s update, as the number of active cases increased by 21 to reach 248.
