HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii County Mayor Mitch Roth says suffering a major heart attack â shortly after taking office â has changed his life and his perspective.
âIâm a person that believes that everything happens for a reason, and when God has adversities, He also has something equal or better that He gives you,â Roth said.
âI believe thereâs a reason for this and Iâm optimistic looking forward.â

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - More than 33,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been received in the state, and now Neighbor Islands are pushing out their first vaccinations.
According to the Department of Health, Oahu received most of the vaccines, with over 21,000 doses delivered. Hawaii has nearly 5,000, Kauai County has nearly 4,000 and Maui County received just under 3,000 doses.
The Hilo Medical Center and Kona Community Hospital on the Big Island started up their vaccination clinics Wednesday.

HILO (AP) A new cancer treatment center in Hawaii has broken ground after the state legislature allocated $6.5 million for the project earlier this year.
A group of health care officials and lawmakers gathered Thursday to mark the beginning of construction of the new building, which will expand the Hawaii Health System Corporation’s East Hawaii Health Clinic and is expected to be completed by 2022.
The two-story facility of nearly 20,000 square feet will be located adjacent to the existing clinic and across the street from the Hilo Medical Center. It will provide expanded oncology care, primary care and other specialty services, the Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported.

A group of healthcare officials and lawmakers gathered Thursday to mark the beginning of construction of the new building, which will expand the Hawaii Health System Corporation’s East Hawaii Health Clinic and is expected to be completed by 2022.
The two-story facility of nearly 20,000 square feet (1,858 square meters) will be located adjacent to the existing clinic and across the street from the Hilo Medical Center. It will provide expanded oncology care, primary care and other specialty services, the Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported.
