Aurora fire requires rescue, five being treated for injuries

AURORA, Colo. â Five people are being treated for injuries after being trapped during a fire, according to Aurora Fire Rescue.
Firefighters responded to the 10600 block of East Exposition Avenue for a fire at an apartment building.
Ladders were used to rescue victims from the second and third floor. Paramedics are assessing five patients with injuries, but they do not appear to be life-threatening.
The fire is now under control, but the scene remains active.
First responders ask that the public avoid the area as they ve seen vehicles drive over their fire hose as they work.

AURORA, Colo. A 5-year-old child suffered severe lacerations to their face after being bitten by a dog Sunday in Aurora.
According to an Aurora Police (APD) report, the bite happened at an apartment in the 900 block of South Dearborn Way. That s about 1/2 mile south of the intersection of East Exposition Avenue and Sable Boulevard.

According to the APD report, an officer was on Interstate 225 near East Mississippi Avenue when he was waved down by a man in a truck. The man, identified as 24-year-old Austin Chavez, said the child, whose name was not released, had been bitten by his dog and he wanted an emergency escort to the Medical Center of Aurora, the report states.

The childcare fixture near the intersection of South Abilene Street and East Exposition Avenue in Aurora has weathered multiple waves of the pandemic since March, along with government restrictions and parents’ anxieties about keeping their kids at home.
“This year, to be honest with you, is one of the toughest years I’ve ever had,” said Little Angels co-owner Frank Omair, who immigrated to the U.S. after living in Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and the Philippines. He runs the daycare with his wife, Gigi.
