Firefighters responded to the 10600 block of East Exposition Avenue for a fire at an apartment building. Ladders were used to rescue victims from the second and third floor. Paramedics are assessing five patients with injuries, but they do not appear to be life-threatening. The fire is now under control, but the scene remains active. First responders ask that the public avoid the area as they ve seen vehicles drive over their fire hose as they work.

According to an Aurora Police (APD) report, the bite happened at an apartment in the 900 block of South Dearborn Way. According to the APD report, an officer was on Interstate 225 near East Mississippi Avenue when he was waved down by a man in a truck. The man, identified as 24-year-old Austin Chavez, said the child, whose name was not released, had been bitten by his dog and he wanted an emergency escort to the Medical Center of Aurora, the report states.
