Eastern Cape police have uncovered a land theft syndicate illegally selling plots on government farms near the East London Airport.
Five suspects – aged between 38 and 62 – were arrested on Wednesday following a week-long covert police investigation.

The case was called up in the East London Magistrate s Court on Friday for a pre-trial hearing.
NPA spokesperson Anelisa Ngcakani said neither Malema nor Snyman were present in court on Friday, in terms of an agreement between the State and defence.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana said the dockets started going missing in 2016.
Kinana said the Anti-Corruption Unit identified a threat after receiving reports of continuous and numerous missing case dockets in the East London Magistrate’s Courts in 2016.
