West Springfield Big E COVID vaccination site opens April 20 Updated Apr 09, 2:07 PM; Posted Apr 09, 2:07 PM Facebook Share WEST SPRINGFIELD The regional vaccination site at the Eastern States Exposition will open at noon April 20, and the state’s reservation system at mass.gov will start accepting reservations Wednesday, according to the mayor’s office in West Springfield. The site will administer the Moderna coronavirus vaccine, the city said. It is a collaborative effort by West Springfield, Agawam, Westfield, Southwick, Granville, Tolland, the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department and Eastern States Exposition staff. The vaccinations will be in the Big E’s Transportation Center inside Gate 1. Officials estimate they’ll be able to handle as many as 1,250 people a day.
