25 News PEORIA, Ill. – Eastbound War Memorial Drive near the intersection with Big Hollow Road was closed for several hours Sunday as police investigated an accident involving a vehicle and a bicycle. The bicyclist was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according Sgt. Amy Dotson. Dotson said preliminary information gathered at the scene indicated the vehicle was traveling east on War Memorial Drive around 10:54 a.m. when the bicyclist, east of the intersection, attempted to cross War Memorial headed north and was struck by the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was not injured. The accident remained under investigation and no citations had been issued as of Sunday evening.
