Police said they had around a dozen calls of drive-by shootings or shots being fired on Sunday, April 11th, and there were more reports on Sunday, April 18th. In all, police responded to about 18 calls of shots being fired. In each case, there was no physical evidence, damage or injuries.
Around 4:15 a.m. Monday, an officer was on a traffic stop in the 5300 block of East Kellogg, when a charcoal-colored Mustang drove by, going east on Kellogg. The car accelerated and the exhaust was backfiring, sounding like gunfire. The officer tried to catch up with the car but was unable to do so because of its extreme speed.
